MWS 670 Clamping Efficiency System
To investigate dry and lubricated clamping and pull-out forces on different materials subjected to a wide range of load conditions. Bench-mounted, consists of a block which is held on a ground steel plate via a clamp. Scale and calibrated spring enables clamping force to be measured. A hand-wheel and spring balance applies a side force to the clamped block until it just clips. The measurements enable a value for the coefficient of friction to be calculated. Supplied with a set of 4 blocks in steel, brass, aluminium & cast iron. The position of the clamping bar can be adjusted to vary the level ratio. The arrangement simulates a workpiece clamped to a machine table. Experiments may be conducted dry as well as lubricated.
